Hi, I have ordered a mac mini 2 and would appreciate information regarding connecting to the Asus pro art monitor PA247 CV. It comes with the following cables: 1 Display Port, 1 HDMI, 1 USBC.
Will these be sufficient, and if so, which cable would be better.

Many thanks

I assume you mean a Mac Mini M2.

The truth is I don't think it will matter which cable you use. Since it comes with all three you can do the comparison yourself.

If you haven't yet purchased the monitor my advice would be to NOT get that or any 1080p monitor and go for a 4K monitor and set it at 1440p.

Yes, a Mac Mini M2. I will be using it for usual surfing etc plus some photo editing via On1 23, the resolution will be 1900 x 1200, and whilst I value and appreciate your input, as a silver surfer I'm not sure that it will make too much difference to me. That said, i'll certainly have a re-think

Try using the HDMI cable first.
That leaves an extra USBc port "open".

The Asus display is 1080p (1920x1080).
That's the setting you should use -- NOT at 1900 x 1200.

It can't display 1200 pixels vertically, anyway, because it only has 1080 pixels in the panel.

Using the HDMI cable, it should "come right up" with 1080p as the "default" setting (what Apple calls "best for the display").

Hi, I just found out that the Asus PA247 CV 1900x1080 now replaced by the PA248 CRV 1900x1200. Will try the HDMI cable first and save a USBc port. Many thanks.

As a fellow "silver surfer" I still recommend 4K. My second monitor is an old 1080p and, for me, it's not good for much other than streaming TV. A 1200p monitor wouldn't be much better.

I take your point, but as far as I can see, the asus monitors at 4k are all 27'' and I want to come down to 24''. I note that the 2023 Apple imac 24'' has 4480x2520 so yes, I guess that you are right.

Which begs the question, what's the most popular 24'' 4k monitor. Any info much appreciated.

The LG 24UD58-b is affordable and is sufficient quality for what you need: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-24ud58-b-4k-uhd-led-monitor

Taking advantage of this thread, for the past 9 years Iv'e used an ethernet RJ45 connection. and apart from the direct to router connection, is that better than wireless? or doesn't it matter.
