Mac music to ipod?

Hi -

I'm new here and a new Mac user. I recently bought my friends Mac and he has tons of music on his iTunes. My question is, How can I take the music on my Mac and transfer onto my ipod. I have had many problems doing this as I try to Sync my ipod to my Mac - it informs me to Erase and Sync or continue without transferring the music??? I have had many headaches with this - I know this should be easy but every google search I enter says How to get your ipod music onto your Mac. I need the opposite. Thank you in advance for the help if any at all.

An iPod can only have one 'host' computer. If you were syncing with another computer before, then to sync with your new one you have to wipe out the iPod and start over. Did you transfer your music over to the new Mac that you got? Once you do that, and you're safe erasing your iPod, then plug it in, let iTunes wipe it clean, and copy all the songs back onto the iPod.
