Mac not attempting to unlock with apple watch

My Mac has stopped even attempting to unlock using my Apple Watch. I have tried turning the setting off and on again and restarting both the Mac and watch. Mbp 2017 and Apple Watch series 6.

anyone got any ideas what else to try?

Try signing out of iCloud on your Mac and then sign back in. Worked for me.

Hi,
Just last night I noticed my watch5 won't unlock my MBP2017. It tells me I need to sign into iCloud via the watch app on my iPhone. When I checked it was signed in and operating correctly. I reset the watch without success and tended the same with my phone with no success. I then unpaired the watch and repaired it and I still get the same pop up.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Try signing out of iCloud on your Mac and then sign back in. Worked for me.

That works but then the problem comes back fairly quickly for me. It’s not a permanent fix unfortunately. Rebooting seems to do the same.
