Mac not remembering some settings

Hi Forum,

My Mac has trouble keeping some settings checked in 2 apps: iTunes doesn't keep the "show purchases in iTunes in the cloud" checked and Messages doesn't keep my phone number checked to receive messages sent to the number.

What can cause this problem and how can I solve it?
