After i returned two imacs due to having loud harddrives problems I decided to buy a mac mini and it is perfect.

i went for the 1.8ghz model and changed the ram to 1gb.

iv connected the mac mini to my HDTV and it looks stunning.
installing windows was no problem, also mac osx is flying.

its amazing how small it is, even the apple remote is taller.

so basically its all good and im finally getting to enjoy the mac experience.

third time is a charm!

I'm in a similar situation - the 24" iMac had just too many wierd hums/fan noises to let me think clearly - especially when it is all just a foot in front of you. I'll probably get a Mac Pro, but only because I'm not as sensible as you...

Congratulations on your purchase, BTW was the iMacs Core 2 Duo ones ?

Sorry to hear about your problems with the two iMacs manutd. :(

But I am glad to hear that things are working fine for you on your Mac Mini. :)

What a shame :\ My Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo) iMac's are awesome. I hope Apple haven't managed to throw a spanner into what surely must be their most popular computer line. Saying that, I don't let HDD's spin down, so I wouldn't hear much HDD noise anyway.

And yes, the Mac mini's rock :D I have the 1.66 version from when they were first released on Intel chips and it opened the door to many thousands of pounds in further Apple purchases. Brilliant machines.

Ah yes, buying of one Apple product usually leads to buying many more Apple products. :D :)
