Mac Office 2008 AutoUpdate Error

I just installed mac office 2008 and when i try to launch it for the first time it sends me to the microsoft autoupdate program but there is nothing else i can download to update. so i cant open it. Is there anything i can do?

If you are experiencing this problem, delete the following files:

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist

then launch any Office 2008 application and enter your Office 2008 serial number again...
