Hi,

My gramps has been using mac since 1984. atm he has a imac G5 (with isight) which can run mac os 9 in mac os x. so he can use os 9 programs in os x. But lately his g5 showing crap... so he wants to have all his os 9 capabilities and benefets which he has in his g5, in his intel macbook. Is this possible? how could i do that?

Classic will not run on any Intel machine or on Leopard in general. Your only choice would be attempting to get OS9 running in one of the various emulators out there (I prefer SheepShaver). The only problem is these emulators are not user friendly and setup is non-trivial at best.

wow thanks everyone...

Just have to try and figure out how to work it now... but that shouldnt be to big of a deal. Gramps will be pleased:)

You might be better off picking up a used PowerMac G5 or a Powerbook.

Any warranty left on the iMac?

If you do go for a Macbook don't forget to wait until the next revision coming in a few days.

Why not buy a Powermac G4 or even earlier and run Classic native (os 9.1) ? Granted it is a 2nd machine, but it is designed and built to run that OS.
