Hello. I'm hoping for a bit of advice. Here's my situation.

I currently use an iPhone 7, an iPad air2, and a MacPro 3.1 early 2008. The iPhone and iPad are running the latest iOS and everything is fine. The Mac Pro has been pimped up over the years, so i've attached a photo of the current spec.

I use Pages, and Numbers, across all devices for my work and its been brilliant. However recently the Mac Pro can't keep up so its fallen out of sync which obviously creates work flow hassles that I don't need.

How can I get things back to how they were a few months ago - when everything synced across all devices? I believe my options are as follows...

1) Move everything to google. I could but it would take me ages and I really don't want to!

2) Get rid of the MacPro, accept its past its best and get a 5.1/6.1/MacMini or whatever that will run the latest OS.

3) I believe I can patch or hack the MacPro 3.1 into installing the latest OS? Is this really possible or advisable?

So I'm hoping for a bit of guidance, to make sure I have't missed any solutions, or maybe get some wise words from anyone in a similar bind - I can't be the only one. Outside of the syncing problem, the MacPro is totally good enough for what I use it for.

Thanks

Tom

After 11 years, time to replace the Mac Pro.
As you mentioned, the 2018 Mini with an i7 might be a good choice.

I'm also looking to purchase a 2018 Mac Mini, but not until May or June. My late 2012 Mac Mii (very good, reliable machine with a Core i7 processor) will, most likely, not be supported by the next version of the Mac OS.

Meanwhile, if you get a 2018 Mac Mini now, be careful about using Catalina, especially with a display that is a Retina model. There have been reports of issues with Catalina and 2018 Mac Minis. Hopefully that will be corrected soon by Apple, either in V10.15.1 or V10.15.2 of Catalina.
