Hey everyone,

I'm considering creating an app to improve the Mac desktop experience, but before proceeding to make the investment, it would be great to have your candid feedback.

I'd like to know if this is an idea that you would gain value from and would you be willing to pay for. In addition, I'd appreciate any suggestions you have.

I’m looking to create an application that gives Mac users greater organization over their desktop experience and workflow. The idea came to me after becoming frustrated with my MacBook desktop. I'm a big multitasker, I usually have several apps open at once, in addition to multiple Word and Excel documents. I find myself spending time searching between spaces and swiping up to identify where my open apps and documents are located. I began with an organized desktop, Slack and Trello on desktop 1, excel and word documents on desktop 2, and so forth. Although, after moving between different apps, I find my desktop becoming unorganized. Apps that were originally on space 1 and space 2, are now on 3 and 4. Eventually, I lose my flow because I have to switch between spaces to find the app or document I'm looking for. Also, I'm tired of having to reorganize my desktop. I want the same consistent workflow because it reduces the amount of time I have to spend thinking about where things are or having to organize where they go.

  1. Create space titles and organize spaces by alphabetical order or by an order specified by the user. For instance, space 1 is called productivity, space 2 called web browsers, and space 3 documents. The user can then organize the sequence of the spaces alphabetically or arrange them in an order of their choice.

  2. Users will have control over which space apps, documents, and folders will open in by default. The user will control which space an app will default to when opened. The user can tell the program to always open Slack and Trello under the space called productivity, safari and chrome under the space called web browsers and etc...

  3. Shortcut keys to switch between spaces. As an example, command P to quickly switch to the productivity space, command W to quickly switch to your web browsers and so forth (I'm aware that these shortcut keys are currently being used for the functions - Only an example).

  4. Users will have the option to lock spaces so that apps can't be moved to different desktops. This will help users keep each space organized.
Again, I'd like to know if this is an idea that you would gain value from and would you be willing to pay for. In addition, I'd appreciate any suggestions you have.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Excited to hear from the community.
