To this time it was enabled by replacing image on resources folder. When I do that, it nothing change it:( After update from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4

Have anybody some idea?

May it be it seems that the picture of background will be stored in other place, but question is where?:)

if somebody have any solution I will be very happy and as I see not only me:)

thanks

Big mystery at the moment!

I've searched the entire System folder for .png and .jpg, been through them all and can't see the image in use

Mac OS X 10.7.4/ login screen

I think it's just broken, and they (apple) need to fix it.
:(

I found out on other mac forum this respond:

I can confirm that the 267.png file is the one that need to be edited. Extract the files from SArtFile.bin. Edit the 267.png when saving make sure you don't flatten the image. Re-encode the SArtFile.bin and using the tool from macthemes.net.

Place the SArtFile.bin back in it's original location /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreUI.framework/Versions/A/Resources/

Reboot and you should see the custom Login Window Background.

Would be great...

except the link to ArtTools is dead.

Anyone got any way to encode the finished file that actually exists?

nevermind, it is working again. Must be a lot of people looking for it today.

I still cannot edit login screen, even through the my post before how to do it. Do anybody to this time successful edit login screen background?

Make sure your PNG is not flat. The image must be on a layer. So if you edit it in Photoshop, duplicate the layer and and delete the original layer, but do not flatten.

I can make the image work, just can't get to mine lol

No, I haven't yet. I've only tiled the image in my guide.

I will as soon as I get a chance. If anyone else does try, let me know the results.

You can find another semi-solution (spoiling the apple-logo) here. Has the disadvantages that 1) the picture is not scaled to screen size, 2) some buttons (shutdown aso) can remain hidden in the back of the picture if the picture is too large, 3) the apple-logo is lost to be used in other circumstances.

I now use a picture with a resolution of about 2/3 of my screen (use GraphicConverter->Picture->Resolution to adjust resolution) such that the buttons are still visible at the bottom on grey linnen tapestry.

I created a new image in Photoshop to the size of my resolution 1440x900. Saved as a PNG and put it back in the .bin file.

It applied with no problems at the login screen ;)

File location

--Edit-- well i guess someone has already done it

You can find the login background in the following place:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/LoginUIKit.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/Log inUICore.framework/Versions/A/Resources

Look for the file called "appleLinen.png" Replace this file with whatever background image you want to set, and rename your file appleLinen. You will need administrative rights to make this change, and should use a 1400×900 image for best results, although it will depend on your display size as well. The image should be in PNG format. Once you are done logout and it should work. I just tried it and it works fine
