Mac os x Joliet extension

i have mac os x 10.6 and bought a netgear router. When i inserted the installation disk, it opened to a bunch of folders and files, there was a file called maxtext. I read it and it said i need to use a joliet extension to rename my disk so it can be read by my computer, so anybody have any idea what i can do? i dont understand what it is
