Hello,

I have a question regarding about the Mac OS X leopard family pack (5 computers). I saw a cheap used copy on ebay and I'm thinking of buying it. But I'm not too familiar with the apple OS installation. Should I worry that the current owner of the software has used up all the five computer installations and thus I won't be able to install the OS X on my mac?

Thank you!

Yes and no.

Is the seller being upfront and honest about the sale? Probably not. Odds seem good to me that he/she already used the family license, and is now reselling the disk.

Ethical issue aside, there's no technical reason it would give you any problems. Apple does not have a means by which to check the licenses for that copy or in any means enforce it (like Windows does).

Depending on what computer its going on, Snow Leopard would be a better choice. You might want to look for a family pack of that.

Agreed, unless the OP is using PPC then SL is a must because of supported apps and security updates.
