As of tittle, write here if you use your mac for scientific research.
What do you use mac for ?
What software do you use?
Shall we start to write down a most useful list of software for research ( plotting, calculus, reference management ..) ?

:apple:

I use a Mac Pro in lab every day, and my work spans both theory and data analysis in my field. I use it predominately for simulations and calculations that aren't worth putting in the queue for the cluster. The most common software I use is that which I write myself (in perl/c++), but I also use R, matlab, mathematica, Adobe Illustrator, and some very specialized software useful only to people in my line of research.
