I picked up a Dell Alienware 38 Curved Gaming Monitor AW3821DW on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I don't game... I was looking for a good widescreen monitor for working from home - welcome to the new reality with the pandemic. I previously had a very good 28" Lenovo 4K monitor, but even with that, when I have meetings going on, it's 4 to 7 windows open simultaneously - what a pain. I'll sacrifice a bit of resolution for more real estate.

... except Dell doesn't have OS X drivers. Do I even need them? Am I missing anything by not having OS X specific drivers? The monitor seems to work fine so far.

I've never used drivers for monitors on macOS (never did on Windows either), I doubt that you'd find any improvement with them, only some added bloatware on your mac. For what its worth I use a Dell U3818DW which I would imagine is similar to what you have, I use it with my Mac Pro & MBP 16". It's been great so far - had it for probably 18 months now.

Thanks. So far, I'm liking it. A lot easier to do work. I do photo editing as well... I do miss the resolution a bit, but not enough that I care so much!

Hi, sorry I have a quick question. I’ve just got mine one yesterday. I’m using Mac mini2018 connect to razer egpu(5700xt) via DP. But I’m getting stuck in 60hz and can not select any other refresh rate in display, is that normal?
OS version 11.2.1

thanks so much in advance

Hmmm... honestly, I haven't bothered to even try changing it because my graphics needs are pretty low. I bought the screen mostly for the real estate. I'm also running OSX 11.2.1.

Icic, thanks so much.btw would you be able to see the display in setting if there is refresh rate section or not? Thanks :)

mine one is strange, there is no refresh rate section...
