Mac Partition won't open

I have a Macbook that i bought in 2008, i recently partitioned it so that i can have windows 7 on it as well. I've had it partitioned for about 8 months now and for some reason when i go to boot the Mac side all it does is stays on the white screen with the Apple in the center and doesn't go passed that for whatever reason.

i looked around on the forum before posting this but i didn't find anything that was similar to my problem.

is it it the hard drive that got messed up? anyone know how to fix this problem?
