mac , pc and ipod question

ok so i got a mac ( 24-inch imac baby !) i have 3rd generation ipod, and itunes in windows with all my songs, so i need to bring them to my mac, i guess u do this hard drive thing with the ipod? well am gonna go try now,,put all my songs in my ipod (hard drive mode) den when i connect it will itunes on mac see it?, and after i get all my songs on mac, i will put it in itunes (the one on my mac) and will it sync perfectly?
