Hey guys,

Yesterday I recieved an enclosure for a hard drive and inserted my previous MacBook hard drive in to it so I could use it as an external. Everything was going well until the drive automatically ejected and now I can no longer use it. It came with a Y shaped cable and tried 2 USB ports but my Mac (and pc via boot camp) doesn't recognise it, although I can hear the drive running and the LED is on.

Can someone help please?

I have one of those 2.5" laptop drives in a similar USB y-cable powered enclosure. A rule of thumb is to insert both parts of the y-cable into the computer first, then attach the drive to the cable. If you are plugging into a hub instead of the computer, make sure it is a powered hub (plugs into the wall via AC/DC adapter).

Reboot.

If you still don't see it, you may have a bad enclosure.

Just tried it all and didn't seem to work :( Likely that I did get a bad enclosure it was only around 5 bucks

Thanks anyway man
