mac/plex newbee question... where are my app folders?

hello world. I am now a new owner of a mac mini with plex installed on it and might i say i love it. the only problem i have is that I really want the national geographic plugin but of course its the only app i have installed that won't work no matter how hard i try (keep getting error: could not determine input format), so i am just giving up. so yet i cam across the unofficial channels.com plex plugin so i thought i might give it a try to get my nat geo fix. the problem is the install notes tell me to go to my plex media server folder in my applications library but no matter how hard I try I can't find it anywhere. I tried searching and still nothing. if anybody could give me a hand i'd greatly appreciate it.

The "folder" is the Plex app in your Applications folder. Right click on it and do "Show Package Contents." Mac apps are actually just specially-formatted folders that are handled differently by the OS.

You're probably looking for the Plex Media Server folder which resides in your user library folder, which Apple hid by default in Lion. To get to it go the the Go menu in the Finder toolbar and select "Go to Folder" and type ~/Library/ and press go. Then go to the folder called Application Support, in that folder you'll see a folder called Plex Media Server.

You guys are very helpful i appreciate it. I tryed googling the problem and nothing. I knew it had something to do with lion. Can anybody help me get The national geographic plugin for plex working? I tryed getting support in the plex forum but ppl there are far from helpful (not 1 reply after a week)

I actually saw your posts on the Plex forum this morning. The unfortunate thing about Plex plugins is that they are developed by volunteers from the community, so when they break (which usually only happens when there is a redesign of the source website) it takes awhile to get things fixed, especially with minor plug-ins, like Nat-Geo. All you can do is post on the Plex forum, hoping that either the original plug in author will have time to fix the plug in or that someone else will pick it up. Or you could try to learn Python and fix it yourself.
