Someone wants to get rid of their Mac Pro 1,1 for $200 locally. I needed a home server for serving up stuff and back ups and was wondering if this will do. How well does virtualization work on it? Planning to run Windows 7 and OSX.

$200 is not TOO bad of a price. I'd offer $150 to be honest.

That machine is obviously getting quite old - it will still be able to virtualise using Parallels, VMWare or Vbox but it will be a tad slow. Also, you would have to upgrade (what I assume is) the stock RAM to somewhere around 8-16GB (the max on that box being 32GB) which will be costly.

What services specifically did you want to have hosted on it?
