Hey guys,
I have a feeling you're probably all tired of answering questions on faulty old 1,1s but I appreciate any input you can offer!

System: A1186, Snow Leopard OS, Stock CPUs, 3GB original RAM (512mb sticks), 7300GT GPU (also have an 8800GT Mac Edition)

I have 2 old A1186 Mac Pro 1,1s which I've cannibalised in to one "working" system. I had my system running happily and consistently until I noticed that I had no network connection, and it couldn't identify the onboard ethernet controller. I re-installed Snow Leopard from the OEM disc which I was first able to install from, hoping it may install relevant drivers. After successfully installing and before I was able to interact with the computer, the screen went black and I seemed to lose all USB power to the Mouse & Keyboard. Left it for a half hour, then hard reset, and no joy. No POST, chime etc, just fans running up and power light staying solid. Tried swapping between my two Mac GPUs, shuffling & minimising RAM, SMC reset, disconnecting for extended periods, to no joy. Press the troubleshooting light, and it would show no issues, and trickle power present.

I was away for a week, and when I returned, I was getting absolutely no power to the board. No power button, no SMC light, no trickle power. I exchanged the PSU with my spare (which I'd vacuumed the excessive dust from), forgot I had no HDD installed, but to my joy, it booted right up! Put the HDD back in and I was straight in to Snow Leopard. I installed an Airport card which was in my other unit (which had never booted successfully) and I was connected to the WiFi successfully.

I ran a software update to hopefully rectify the onboard ethernet controller, which successfully, downloaded, and installed on shutdown, but as soon as the status bar was finished, the screen went black again, no USB power, and I'm back to square one....

I've tried SMC reset, disconnect and discharge, shuffle/remove RAM, swap GPUs, remove or swap HDD, but still no avail. No chime/POST, no display, and no USB power. Surely I'm not the only one whose had this issue. Any help is hugely appreciated! Cheers, Lewis
