I have a mac pro 1,1 that has had a few upgrades.
System performs very well and should hold into the future for a few more years. Total cost of renewing my mac pro was $250. I picked the 950 SC+ as it only needed the 6 pin power cable. Same cable I was running on my 8800 GT.
Just wanted to let you all know you can put a late model vid card in the older mac pro systems. If you have questions let me know. We upgraded the 3 mac pros in the house with the same specs, so it works every time.
- Running Yosmite 10.10.5 (pike patch)
- 16GB memory
- Upgraded processors to 5355 8 core. picked 2.66 for lower heat.
- Upgraded firmware to 2,1 so processors are seen correctly.
- Running EVGA Geforce GTX 950 SC+ card.
- Installed webdrivers for correct OS and build.
