Hi,

I'm kind of new here. I saw this video about El Capitan and 512 and 1 GB ram and noticed he is not using the Apple approved way of using slots 1 and 2 first (and then work from there as is described inside the mac pro case door)

He is using slot 3/4 and 7/8 and doesn't start at 1/2 (Around 50 seconds in)

Is this possible? And if i would do it too, would it harm my 1,1 or ram? I use cheap server ram with thin heatsinks for now (thicker ones are shipped but still waiting for them) but they get hot. Around 70 degrees celcius so i use SMC fan control to let them come down to 50 tot 60 degrees.

Because heat wise i think using slots 3/4 and 7/8 are better because they are further away from the logic/motherboard and closer to the ram opening so there is more room for cold air to move in or heat to move out.

Any thoughts about this? I searched the forum and googled but haven't found much.

Thanks a lot!
