I have a Mac Pro 3.0ghzX8, 32 gigs Ram, Radeon 5770. New (to me) machine.
Threw an SSD in it, installed OSX 10.6.8, installed bootcamp, partitioned the SSD, and installed Win7 X64. It installed fine, and when it rebooted, it hung on a black screen with a flashing white cursor. I restarted again, this time holding down "option", and reselected the Win7 DVD, hoping to fix whatever was wrong. To my surprise, it booted off the SSD.
I still CANNOT boot from the SSD itself though, whenever I want to use windows i have to boot from the DVD, which somehow boots from the SSD. I've tried disabling type 4, Type 3, and selecting "legacy setting", all with the same result: A black screen with a blinking white cursor. I can't type anything either. Would very much appreciate some help, have a big project coming up and it's obnoxious not to be able to dual-boot without a DVD.
I do have my SSD installed in Bay 3, because I can't get it in Bay 1 (have to ghetto rig the drive carrier and bay 1 has no room), but I'm not sure why that would matter, especially since it runs perfectly ONCE it is running.
