I have a Mac Pro 1,1 that I previously upgraded the procs to 3GHZ, added 32 GB RAM, and installed a PC GeForce 660Ti in. I have it running OSX El Capitan on the first hard drive in the system.
I want to also install Windows on a second drive in the system, not via boot camp, but as a stand alone installed OS running on a seperate HDD. To do this, I understand I have to pull the first HDD and do the install for Windows. That is all well and good. Here is where my question comes in.
Once Windows is installed and complete, I'd want to put the first HDD in. On booting the machine after that, I assume it would boot into Mac OSX Again via the first HDD. That being said:
1. What can I do on boot to choose which OS to boot to? With the PC GeForce Card installed, I dont get to see the Apple Logo and early part of the boot process as I dont get video until the Mac OSX Login screen comes up.
2. In Mac OSX, will the OS see the Windows Install and allow me to choose it to restart to in the same manner it would see other OSX installs and allow you to choose to boot to them? Then, once in Windows, I dont know how I'd get back to OSX under these conditions.
3. If I could see the Apple Logo and early loading portion of the boot process, holding down Option, would I see both OSs as boot options there?
Thanks for the assistance. Just trying to see if I can do this or if I need to just bite the bullet and use Boot Camp within OSX to load Windows.
