Mac Pro 2008 dead RAM (but not red LED ?)

One of my 8x 4 GB DDR2 FB-DIMM Micron sticks died this evening. I got blinking power LED when booting the Mac and no chime. After removing this stick my Mac Pro works just fine with 24 GB RAM. It was working more than 1 year.

My question is why the red LED wasn't ON on the riser card near the defective module ?
