Hi I want to replace the optical drive on my Mac Pro but i'm confused as to what I get.

I ordered this one and it arrived this morning but it evidently doesn't fit my machine.

What am I supposed to be looking for? (ATA ports?) What's a good drive to get?

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

Simon

2008 Optical Bay is ide/ata. However if you really wanted to use that sata dvd drive you have:

Convert the molex to sata power.
Use the extra sata data ports (2x) on the motherboard to connect the dvd drive.

So it's probably just as easy to order a new drive then and post this one back? so just to double check would this one do the trick?

If you get that one, can you let me know how it works out and if you get native burning in OSX. I need a dual layer burner as my only one is bust.

I have that drive in my 2008 Mac Pro, works fine. Only thing I wish was able to do is rename the drive so it's not called "TSSTCoprp"
