Mac pro 2008 raid card in a 2009 mac pro?

Hi all, i was wondering if it is possible to put a apple raid card from a 2008 8core mac pro in a 2009 mac pro, does this work or are the card only compatibel with the mac they came in ?

It's most likely the same card, so it should work fine.

That was my thought too, but it is a bit pricey to just give it a try ;-).

No, it won't work as-is.

The card changed for the 2009 systems, as the SATA data is now moved over PCB traces on the backplane board (2008 card uses a cable). You could make the 2008 work, but it would require an adapter kit from MaxUpgrades to the tune of ~$130USD.

But either version is also an expensive piece of junk. You can get a better card (more ports, better features, works in multiple OS's) for less money.

Sorry it wasn't better news, but you're better off staying away from the Apple RAID Pro cards anyway.
