Mac pro 2008 with HD2600XT and Snow leopard louder fannoise

I have experienced a much louder fannoise from the ATI HD2600 after i upgraded my 2008 Mac pro to SL.
I use the HD2600 as a second card beside a 8800GT just to drive my HDTV, but even when HDTV is switched off the fan is spinning fast. This makes my Mac Pro noisy.
I contacted Applecare and they agreed to send me a brand new ATI HD2600.
Recieved the card yesterday, and installed it.
But this NEW card is giving me the same noisy fan sound.
So i think there's got to be someting wrong with the combination SL and ATI HD2600XT.
Are there others who experience more fan noise from the ATI card in a 2008 Mac Pro after they installed SL?

Usually a from scratch install with data pull from backup will sort this out.

ok, i will try a clean install to see see if it works.
