Mac Pro 27inch monitor flickering off/on

Intermittently, my 27inch monitor attached to a Mac Pro very briefly goes black and then works OK.

I had an earlier incident where after booting the monitor would stay black, but appeared to be working other than that.

Any ideas what might be happening ? Loose Connection, screen saver, power saving mode?
