Hi All,
I just got a second Mac pro 3.1 this has 28Gb of Ram (800MHz) in the form of 6x4Gb and 2x 2Gb modules. is there any proper way to install this? or is memory used from slot 1 riser A onwards. It's not something like slot 1 riser A, then slot 1 riser B, thinking along the lines of dual channel memory as per PC, etc..

At the moment I have the 2x@2Gb in slots 3 and 4 on riser B!

Any ideas will it really make any difference??

Regards

Mel.

Anything goes, just pair slots so 1&2, 3&4 on each Riser are matched.
Using all 8 DIMM slots also improves memory performance.

Some use 667MHz to save money, cheaper, easier to find - and run cooler.

As long as the fans and air and that they stay say below 70*C should be fine.
