I have a Mac Pro Early 2009 (4,1) updated to 5,1 that I got as a orphan from our office after upgrading. It has an Apple RAID card in it.

I currently have it running 2 SSD's in SLOT 0 and 1 in RAID 0 from the RAID card.

My question is, am I really gaining anything from this or are the SSD's faster than that old RAID card and I would be better off using something else (or just use nothing but software OS RAID) to get better performance from the two 256GB SSD's? (Seagate PRO 600's).

I've been reading about the Apricorn adapter, and other adapters for mSATA and M.2 cards. All this is very exciting as I plan on taking this free Mac Pro to new heights! I have a X5670 chip ready to install, then more RAM and a USB 3.0 card.

Thanks!
