hello search information my mac pro 5.1 is curupt no sound and black screen i know that a new smd has to be soldered on but now my question is can i take a copy of the curupt smd rom if not allowed where do i get the data that should be on it I don't have that much experience I use Google translator

The failure you described could be caused by several different failures and you should follow the diagnostics steps from the Apple Technician manual to narrow it down before jumping steps and start to replace anything.

Are you absolutely sure that is the BootROM that failed, the DIAG LED EFI_DONE is off when you press the DIAG button?

Did you already tested the CPU tray and PSU with a working Mac Pro? If you do not have access to another Mac Pro (early-2009 to mid-2012 will work for diagnostics) to do all the tests, borrow or even buy one.

For a later elimination test, you can replace the SPI flash memory with a brand new one flashed with the MP51.fd. All the info that you need for this procedure is on the first post of the BootROM thread. Please follow the links from the first post and understand what needs to be done.


Replacing the SPI flash memory could be a gigantic waste of time, it's not a magic solution, before doing that you need to be sure that everything else is working correctly and is just the BootROM that failed.
