life is slow right here.
I'm looking at purchasing a QHD (2560 x 1440) Dell Monitor. I've noticed that the Dell 27 Gaming Monitor - S2716DG supports up to 144Hz and a 1ms response time. This is much better than say the Dell UltraSharp U2717D 27" which runs @ 60Hz with a 8ms response time.

I'm wondering if my Mac Pro will support a refresh rate such as 120Hz or 144Hz instead of 60Hz or 72Hz (I heard a rumor 72Hz is the cap for Mac OS X but don't know if there is any validity to that statement.)

Here's my Mac's specs:

Can anyone confirm if running 2560 x 1440 @ 144Hz or 120Hz would work with my Mac Pro? Perhaps I just need to use SwitchResX to get the higher refresh rate? Is this possible or is it a lost cause expecting anything above 60Hz??

thanks for any insight into this..
