I have been using iMovie HD since it came out (and had already been using earlier versions for several years). I also use current video software that has excellent capabilities (such as DaVinci Resolve and Shutter Encoder), but I have never found a substitute for the power and simplicity of iMovie HD. It is essential to me for producing movies that combine video footage, still images, and audio files, and all of this may be done with great precision in terms of clipping exactly where you want and lining up the audio exactly as desired. In order to keep this capability going, I have recently obtained several used Mac Pro 5,1 computers and learned how to replace components (all the way down to the motherboard) in order to keep them working. I also acquired a few brand-new 'trashcans' while they were still available. They allow me to use other software that won't run on current Apple computers. The fact that some of the most useful software won't run on the current OS doesn't seem like progress to me. I am curious if others are still using iMovie HD and/or other software that won't run on current Apple computers.
