Hi folks,
My ethernet port #1 is dead after I update my MacPro 5,1 to Mojave 10.14 (reason not found) and I reinstall it to EI Capitan 10.11 (I'm using E2 SSD in PCIe x4 3rd Slot).
When the Port #1 is dead, the Cursor sometimes not smoothly works then hangs then OS suddenly shutdown and no error window after restart (just like normal restart). After restart my HDD tray #3(storage HD) to #4(Time Machine HD) were not showing up and found in my Mac Pro even in Disk Utility. After EI Capitan is installed, #3 & #4 get back which good. But the cursor and shutdown issue keeps coming but not frequently. I did ever SMC PRAM NVRAM reset but no luck to bring the Port #1 and #2 back and these issues still coming. I remove the E2 then try install OS in HDD Tray #1 (I still use the E2 SSD for testing).
Then I use my Tray #1 install High Sierra now with SSD. The port #2 works fine and I do the AHT and it saids the Port#1 network card got error. I did SMC PRAM NVRAM reset, ethernet port#1 is not coming back but the OS seems more stable for now. I run the AHT again, no error found BUT the Port #1 still dead. After a fine test and error restart I mention before, now the Port#2 is detected in OS but not works when it is plugged. I bought a PCIe Intel(R)PRO/1000 for now and works fine.
The Hangs and restart problem keeps coming when Im using the GTX680 graphics card. I change it to GT120 and more stable now.
Is my Logic Board not working good or the power supply? or something else ?
Many Thanks if anyone can Help!
