Hey everyone,

I have a Mac Pro 5,1. I used OCLP and installed Big Sur. If I were to use the update to Monterey, will I encounter any issues?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

👍

I have been running Monterey via OCLP on my 4.1>5.1 since last year.

No problems.

I have 4 of these computers in my office, all work fine.

Thanks for your reply.

I guess what I was asking is, can I use the update within Mac Os to update it to Monterey instead of using OCLP?

....out of curiosity. What would happen if this was attempted?

Aside from this. Can anyone direct me to the best walk through on YouTube? I'm going to attempt to put Ventura on my MP.

Thanks!

It just wouldn't install.

I wouldn't recommend Ventura on a MP 5,1.

First, you need a metal-capable GPU, do you have that? You're also going to need a BIOS update to get to Monterey or beyond.

Yes. I have a metal-capable GPU. I bought one last year and it was also flashed to show the boot screen. A bios update? Any suggested resources to achieve this?

to be honest dunno what is he about :) I installed the ventura on my cmp5.1 and it worked but had a problem with GPU so moved back to Monterey, but yes, you can try install ventura on it
