I'm firmly in the anti-dongle and external peripheral camp when it comes to my trashcan. I finally gave in and bought a dual 10gb thunderbolt 2 Ethernet adapter from Sonnet Tech and have to say this thing is awesome. I now have two link aggregated 10gb Ethernet connections.
You have to have a 10gb switch obviously but I recently picked up a netgear X712Tv2 12 port managed switch and am seeing SSD transfer speeds from my synology NAS which also has dual 10gb channel bonded Ethernet.
Best upgrade I've done to my 2013 trashcan to date.
