I waited so long for apple desktop and can't wait any longer and I am leaning toward to current Imac 27" i7 until today. looks like we might see new imac in fall or even next year Q1.

I need to finish audio projects which involve many virtual instruments so need larger SSD, ram, and better CPU. otherwise I might just go for 27" i5 option but it has to be I7.

price is for 27" i7 with 516 ssd is about $2500
and mac pro with 256gb ssd is about $2800
with mac pro, I still need monitor.
I will have extra ram and External SSD for both options.

which one is better option?
probably mac pro might be $600 expensive than imac and performance wise both looks similar...

I would get the iMac. Single core performance is quite a bit better (Skylake core at 4.2Ghz vs Ivy Bridge core at 3.9Ghz). The difference in multicore performance is not that big. Plus you get the beautiful 5k monitor built in versus having to buy something inferior separately. Seems like a no brainer to me.
