I have a Penryn 2 x 2.8 / 500GB / 8800GT on order and I have 6 GB of RAM and two Raptors waiting; one of the latter will become the boot drive.

Does it matter when I add the drives and RAM -- i.e. should I boot it once stock first and do updates, or just add the RAM and drives from the get go?

I plan on unpacking, booting, configuring ( internet, printer, registration, system prefs) first, and then software update for 10.5.2 etc followed by Disk Utilities repair permissions. Then i'll install my 3 additional drives, use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the original drive, and set the startup disk to the new cloned drive. Then I'll configure my two RAID 0 drives with disk utility. Then I'll restart, remove the original drive and install my fourth new drive. Once that's all done I'll shut down and install all the new RAM.
Hope this helps.

What will you do with your original drive?

Well organized approach but what will you do with your original drive?
