So I just got another Mac Pro. It's a quad 2.66, not one of the 2008 models. Anyway, AHT fails with the same error as in this Apple support document # 307240 : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307240

So my question is, has anyone else seen this problem? Yes the document states the error should be ignored (The value I get is always between 1.000 and 4.000), but the problem I have is the AHT just stops when it gets this error and won't find other errors. So how do I know I don't have any other issues? I tested this theory by holding one of the fans (IO fan in the front, machine wasn't hot so no big deal) from spinning and running the AHT. AHT gave me the error about the fan but didn't give me the error that it's always getting. So AHT gets one error and then bails. Useless. I even tried it by turning looping on in AHT and it again just stops after it gets the first error.

Anyway, does anyone know what the fix is? I'm going to call Apple tomorrow if I have time. This machine did come with Leopard and has AHT 3A141 on the DVD. I tried my old AHT from my old Mac Pro and it also fails (same error, although the error doesn't give the # at the end).

Is there a newer version of the AHT for the Mac Pro that will fix this problem? I own Techtool Pro and it doesn't find any errors, but I don't think it's as intuitive in some areas (and yet more intuitive than AHT in others) as the AHT with regards to system specific tests such as fan speed and temperature sensors.

Interestingly, this Mac Pro comes with a newer boot rom than my old mac pro. This one is MP11.005D.B00, old one is MP11.005C.B08. Doesn't seem like you can download MP11.005D.B00.

Thanks.
