In front of my MacBook Pro
Ok, so with my imminent purchase of a Mac Pro, something just occurred to me... what about airport? Seeing as I can get the stock MP on eBay for much less, I'm buying one of those, but the stock MPs don't have airport cards (WTF Apple). I'm way out of range of a wired connection where I am in my house, so what should I do? I've read the newer MP's card is different and apparently also voids my warranty, so is there any way around this? I also can't find the airport card for the newer ones for sale anywhere. So, I'm baffled, what can I do?

I don't understand why you can't buy the proper Airport card for whatever machine you end up getting?

In any case, another option is to buy a second wireless router (similar to what you already have) and "bridge" them.

Do a google search on this part number - MB363Z

That should be the part number for the Airport Extreme card for the 2008 Mac Pro.

buy it from the apple store. tell them its for the mac pro. they'll sell you the appropriate part and you can do it at home.
