Mac Pro ATX PSU Upgrade?

Hello there!
I´ve been reading a few posts about people modifying their Mac Pro PSU, so they can get a 2nd PCI-E 8 Pin connector.
My question is, can you actually replace the stock PSU, with an ATX unit?
Like the Corsair 1400W PSU?
I know the connectors are different, but is there any way to ghetto rig it somehow?
Is it possible to rewire it so it will fit?

Any helpful answer is very appreciated.
