I have one of the new Mac Pros and only realised yesterday when I tried to connect some speakers that the audio jack port on the front panel doesn't work at all. I can't see as there is anything in software that indicates which output the audio subsystem will use so I have to assume that these are just dumb jacks for the same output signal or something but I am really not sure.

Could anyone who knows something about Mac Pros comment here and let me know if this is normal. I'd be grateful if anyone could answer any of these questions:

- Is it possible to activate/deactivate or indicate which of the two output plugs to use or will sound output always go through both?

- Has anyone actually tried to use their front mounted audio output? I am thinking that maybe there are lots of Pros with busted audio but that no one knows because the jack itself is hardly ever used.

- Given that I might have a busted front-jack and thus only one (on the back) working, how would I set up two different speaker systems on this thing? I have a set of amplified speakers and a wireless headset I want to connect and it seems kinda lame that my brand new expensive monster can't really do that.
