Hi all,
I have a 2008 Mac Pro that's being weird. I'll run you though the recent problems. I don't know if they're related or not.
- I burnt a dvd with about 5 quicktime files on that seemed to crash any mac you put it in. (10 days ago)
- My mac randomly crashed a few times during light use. (5ish days ago)
- I install snow leopard. When the computer boots up it loads the background, spinning wheel and search icon. Stops for 20 minutes, screen goes grey and error message (in several languages) tell me to shut down computer (3 days ago)
- Reinstall SL x 3 - Happens again
- Reinstall SL on separate partition, erase original - seems to work fine.
- Go to reinstall CS3 collection (edu license) and the superdrive won't read the dvds at all (even the video ones... it just ejects them). Test a few other DVDs... all work fine (MS Office, Films, etc)
Like i say I don't know if these are separate problems or all related? I read somewhere that installing SL can have issues if you downloaded an update but didn't run it on leopard before you tried to upgrade? and I wondered if the Superdrive was on the blink?
anyway if anyone has any ideas what the problem may be i'd really appreciate the help
Thanks,
Simon
PS I would just take it to an apple store but the closest one is about 2 hours away.
