As most people with Mac Pro's are aware of, there have been a lot of problems with the bluetooth in these machines, especially with the Magic Mouse.
I have a Mac Pro 1.1, the first generation that came out in 2006. It has the Apple Bluetooth and Airport cards installed.
This topic has been talked about, with a possible "fix" available - but here I add one very important update that people may be missing.
I had the same issue as many people, bad bluetooth with my Magic mouse. So I searched, and found that the wires on the bluetooth and airport card were possibly switched. Likewise, I followed the instructions and changed the wires around as per what people recommended. 2 and 3 on Airport, and 1 on bluetooth, with the one labeled bluetooth unconnected.
So I tried and tried, every possible combination, but I could not get the right result. If I connected the #1 wire to the bluetooth, the bt would work fine, but my Airport wireless would stop working correctly and drop out all of the time. Likewise, the airport worked perfectly with the #1 wire, but then the bluetooth was horrible.
So what was the problem? Even if I was using the recommended combination that people talked about, I could not get it to work.
Here's is my solution: Do the recommended combination, and upgrade out of 10.6.8. That update seems to have created this problem. I am now running Mac OS 10.7 Lion GM, and both my airport and bluetooth are working flawlessly like I have never experienced. All I did was switch the wires to the correct position, 2 and 3 on airport, 1 on bluetooth, and it was worked. It had not worked under 10.6.8. I cannot remember if it worked in 10.6.7, because I was not using my bluetooth then.
