Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and I have a curious problem:
I just purchased a new Mac Pro 2.66 (10.5.8). I installed my software reformatted two drives from my old computer, installed the OS (10.5.6) on one so that I could boot from it to run maintenance apps.
When I boot/w DISKWARRIOR 4.1.1 to rebuild the directory:
a) I graph and it shows 24% of the files are out of order
b) it rebuilds it (no red - just green)
c) it replaces it (no errors)
d) if I graph again it shows less than 1% of the files are out of order
e) I rerrun the DW and b,c and d again
Practically the same thing with TechTool:
a) volume rebuild - rebuilds volume, green response
b) used nodes: orig 21,072, rebuilt 21,068 - free nodes: orig 3,248, rebuilt 3,252
c) rebuild yields no errors
d) when the rebuild is run again b and c happens again
b) no errors
c) if I run the utility again it shows the same problem
Similar responses to all drives tested: directories are rebuilt to a point and are replaced. Diskwarrior has been run from a boot disk and a hd. Techtools has only been run from a hd. My present disc will not boot my computer.
I had to order new utility discs a few months ago because I was having trouble booting from them on our new 2008 Mac Pros.
Any ideas?
