Greetings...At the risked of getting flammed...I have a newbie question on the use/capability of a Dual Monitor graphics gard in the Mac Pro.

Here goes:

Can a slide show running on the mac pro be directed to the 2nd dvi port while still using the 1st port for normal OS/application display. Or does is the 2nd port only used as an extension of the desktop so more open applications can be viewed on the screen? I guess that I could drag the slideshow application to the 2nd displaye window and run it in full screen.

My real goal is to see if I can use my old Viewsonic monitor on the 2nd port and have it act like a poor-man's digital picture frame while using the primary port for another, bigger, monitor for the OS/applications.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

You can extend or mirror your display.

Extended mode will work fine for having a sideshow open on 1 monitor, and doing whatever else you want to do on the other monitor.

You can also choose which monitor you want the dock on.
