Can anyone confirm that NO PCI cards will work in the mac pro PCI-E slots?

Indeed, as the Mac Pro features absolutely no PCI-slots

That is correct PCI-Express is very different from the older PCI and PCI-X slots as it is a serial interface with lanes.
