When I put the computer to sleep, then wake it up, the fans go crazy. I have to shut it down and start it up again so it would go back to normal.

There are some firmware updates for the MP and the x1900XT on Apple's site. Try that. Is it the video card fan or the machine itself?

I have all the updates for the video card as well.

It sounds like the video card or the rear fan? Really loud. Sleep mode is useless now.

Use iStat Pro to see whether the 4 case fans are spinning at normal speed after you wake it up (should be at less than 1000 rpm, mine are at about 500-600 rpm).

When did this start for you? With 10.5? Mine does the same but stops after a couple of seconds.

Could you perhaps be a bit more specific than "crazy?"

It is normal for the fans to rev up when returning from sleep.

Mine started doing this as of two firmware updates ago - before that, waking from sleep was pretty quiet.

It's annoying, but you can't you anything about it.

Sorry. By crazy I mean the fans stay at a high RPM and they dont slow down. I have to restart it to get it back to normal.
