Hi folks,

I need to install Windows on my 2006 mac pro. I had some rebooting issues where it just wouldn't reboot. I narrowed it down to the original DVD drive which I unplugged. I have another DVD burner in the 2nd slot connected.

I had restored the main HD to hard drive B at first b/c I thought it was the main drive screwing up. Then I tried a fresh install on the main HD.

So when I discovered that it was the burner, I restored the main HD back from HD B.

The system would boot no problem. Set up a partition and it would still boot.
I had moved HD B to be in drive bay 1 b/c I was going to use the main HD in a HD enclosure, but then decided to put it back and use it (HD B has more space and could be better used).

Now, upon boot up (or rebooting), I get a flashing switch between the apple logo, a folder with a question mark and a circle with a line through it.

I've done the following:
- reset NVRAM / PRAM

- if I hold down the option key, I can choose the main HD and it boots fine, but when I do this, it won't see the windows DVD for installation.

- I can go into bootcamp assistant and start the windows installation, but when it reboots, i get the flashing symbols.

- i put back HD B and it does the same thing - I need to hold down opt to choose it but it works.

- i also checked disk permissions and fixed them

- I went into sys. prefs and selected either HD as the boot and the same thing happens.

My only other thought is to put back all the HDs I took out? Maybe simulate how it was set up before?

I should also mention that before I disconnected the orig. DVD burner, both HDs worked as bootable drives

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Keebler
